A miscarriage is a spontaneous abortion of an unborn child prior to the 20th week of pregnancy, frequent miscarriages occur before the 12th week and some occur vey early such that one cannot notice she was pregnant. Spotting and bleeding are typically the most common symptoms of a miscarriage, the bleeding may last for several weeks and eventually there will be a discharge of the pregnancy tissues .Whenever you are pregnant and discover you are dizzy most of the time you need to take some caution as it can be signs of hormones fluctuating or even miscarriage .the other symptom of a miscarriage can be vigorous back pain and can be sign of back labor
Miscarriages sometimes occur because of a weakness to the cervix thus it cannot be able to hold the pregnancy and this type of miscarriage normally occurs after the 14th and 16th week. Mismatched chromosomes accounts for 60% of miscarriages. Chromosomes are produced in pairs one from mother and the and the other from father, when an egg and a sperm meet and one is faulty then the chromosomes which carry genes wont line up resulting in a miscarriage.
Malformation or scaling of the uterus is the other cause of a miscarriage as it results in the inability of the baby to properly grow , ultra sounds or magnetic resonance are often used to determine if the stomach is up to the task. Some diseases like measles and chronic illness like diabetes and lupus are also known to contribute to miscarriages or severe malformation of unborn child. Smoking and excessive alcohol intake by an expectant mother is also some well documented causes of miscarriages.
Since there are high numbers of miscarriages ,a miscarriage at first may not be a cause for investigation particularly if it takes place prior to the 12th week .But miscarriages occurring closer to the 20th week are highly suspect and can be fatal to a mother thus need for a special medical care.
